MOKOPANE – A MURDERER is on the run after he shot and killed Christina Galane, a 71-year-old woman from Mahwelereng, and then shot another victim who is stable and recovering at home.
The incident took place two weeks ago.
According to Mahwelereng police spokesperson, Capt Steve Mabuza, Galane was on her way to lock her gate at around 23:45 on Saturday January 31 when she was confronted by an unknown person, who killed her with one shot.
The suspect then entered the house and demanded money from a resident who was living with the deceased.
The resident managed to lock herself in her room while shouting for assistance. The suspect ran out of the house without taking anything. While he was trying to escape, he ran into Johanna Molokomme and shot her without any provocation.
Molokomme was rushed to Mokopane Hospital where she was transferred to the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital.
Mabuza said the police were investigating a case of murder and attempted murder, but no one had been arrested so far. Molokomme was discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.
