Child dies in a taxi accident
A five-year-old child died when two minibus taxis were involved in an accident just outside the city on the N1 North to Louis Trichardt on Wednesday morning.
POLOKWANE – A five-year-old child died when two minibus taxis were involved in an accident just outside the city on the N1 North to Louis Trichardt on Wednesday morning.
According to emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and police officials at the scene, one minibus taxi was towing another. Both minibus taxis were carrying passengers at the time.
The accident occurred when the two minibus taxis went in opposite directions.
The drivers lost control of their vehicles and both vehicles overturned.
ER24 EMTs confirmed that a child was reported dead at the scene and nine other people sustained minor to serious injuries and were taken to the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital for treatment.
Police officials at the scene said a case of culpable homicide would be opened and investigated.
