POLOKWANE residents will soon have access to free Wi-Fi, thanks to Ruckus Wireless SA.
According to Ruckus Wireless SA sales manager, Bruce Pitso, the company wants to be viewed as the number one Wi-Fi provider in the country and to bring seamless connectivity to all citizens through their product offerings and partnerships.

“We are very optimistic about the future of improved connectivity in the city with projects in the pipeline that I think residents in Limpopo will appreciate, but funding  is a very critical component. We have yet to conclude any formal agreements for deployment in Polokwane. Also, we have established great partnerships with local resellers and distributors and this has resulted in citizens enjoying the pleasures of Wi-Fi connectivity in malls, restaurants, hotels and educational facilities,” explains Pitso.

“We have started seeing such initiatives across the provinces, but in order for it to grow and reach other parts of the country, we are going to have to see larger investments being injected into such projects. Such projects take time and require financial backing. As other projects grow and become a success, it puts pressure on other industry players to provide Wi-Fi in and around their vicinities. It is also important for residents of Polokwane to know that they need to ask and demand better connectivity in their province and this will cause the powers take action.”

There are many initiatives across the country where Ruckus Wireless has collaborated with different industry players; some projects are bigger than others, says Pitso. He adds that this will be an ongoing engagement process with local municipalities, businesses, mobile operators and government.
