Gr. 12’s kick off the year

Review speaks to a few gr. 12 learners at Noorderland High School to find out how they survived the first few days of school and what they are looking forward to.

POLOKWANE – The long summer vacation is over and Limpopo schools opened on Wednesday.

The pressure is on for this year’s gr. 12 learners to improve on last year’s 72,9% pass rate.

Review speaks to a few gr. 12 learners at Noorderland High School to find out how they survived the first few days of school and what they are looking forward to.

Thabiso Chepape says the first few days of school have been wonderful and he just could not believe that he was a gr. 12 learner.

“I want Noorderland to achieve a 100% matric pass rate this year,” says Thabiso.

“It is our time to make the province and our families proud and we promise to work hard and achieve as much as we can. I am looking forward to fighting tooth and nail to pass with flying colours,” says Tumisang Hlongwane.

Thabang Kgwathlala says he feels the pressure because he aims to achieve seven distinctions in the final exams.

“I want to go to university and study actuarial science or statistics,” he says.

Nthabiseng Nawa says her first week has been quite busy and she feels the pressure of being a gr. 12 learner, because many people expect her to excel this year.

Nthabiseng says she wants to achieve at least four distinctions in the final exams and is prepared to work hard.

Makoma Bopape says the first few days of school were tiring. She explains that she helped the newcomers and showed them around.

“I have a good feeling that I will do well this year and I am looking forward to working hard. They say what starts well ends well,” says Makoma.

Kholofelo Masemola says the first few days of school have been exciting and she met new learners and her teachers. She adds that she wants to stay focused so that she can pass well.

Excelsior le Roux says the first three days of school have been great and she is looking forward to learn as much as she can and wants to stay focused.

Penelope Mojapelo says she is looking forward to study hard and pass gr. 12.

She also says that she is looking forward to school events such as the matric dance, Valentine’s Day and many others.
