Kedibone drives off on new motorcycle

MOKOPANE – KEDIBONE Malatjie from Mokopane was the winner of a brand new motorcycle worth R132 000 after she won a raffle.

Kedibone entered the Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club raffle at this well-known motorcycle club’s sixth annual rally in Polokwane on November 29 last year.

Last week Kedibone received her new wheels during a hand-over ceremony at Savannah Mall.

“This means a lot to me. I am going to be a biker now. Sapa Yopa changed my life.

“I always wanted to own a motorcycle and now that dream has come true,” Kedibone said after the ceremony.

Sapa Yopa president, Sarel Nong, said he was thrilled that a woman won the raffle.

“We hope Kedibone’s win will encourage more women to join our club. We believe it is very important for our club to contribute to the communities where we work and live. We do this because we want to make a positive difference,” Sarel said.

“The Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club was born in 2008 and we have only gone from strength to strength since then.

“We are living our dream of cultural diversity with a membership that includes black people, Indians, coloured people and white people,” he said.

Sarel said Sapa Yopa was also one of the founding members of a federation of motorcycle clubs, the Rainbow Mzansi Bikers’ Organisation (Rambo). He said 63 motorcycle clubs were now affiliated with Rambo with a total membership of 5 000 bikers nationally.

Sarel said 123 bikers were members of the Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club. They also had 50 bikers younger than 21 years in the club’s development team and more than 1 000 loyal fans in the Sapa Yopa fan club.

He said motorcycle clubs were misunderstood by many people.

“People tend to shy away from us, but as soon as they realise what we actually do, they understand that we are a great group of people who want to do good. We strive to help the less fortunate and are involved with several charities,” he explained.

Sarel invited all bikers in the province to join Sapa Yopa.

“This club is not only for black bikers. As long as you have a motorcycle and a valid driver’s license, we will welcome you. We are truly living the dream, because our members show our cultural diversity.”
