BURGERSFORT police station commander, Col Rebecca Malatji thanked the officials at the local police station for their hands-on approach throughout 2014, as well as cooperative community members who gave the police information on dangerous perpetrators.

“I would like to thank each citizen for their cooperation. We would not have caught so many criminals if it were not for the crime tips people shared.

“Thanks to you, the crime rate in Burgersfort has been reduced. Keep informing us of criminal activities in the area. The community must also please be aware of the high rainfall this season.

“Do not let your children play near any bodies of water,” she said.

She said intersections in town where there were traffic lights were hotspots as far as crime was concerned, especially during peak traffic hours.

“Keep your car windows closed and doors locked when stopping at them,” was her advice.
