Teachers learn to teach

Five teachers from Christian Achievers Academy (CAA), Rebecca Mankanyi, Norma Grant, Kate Maleka, Amanda Williams and Dorcas Molepo took part in a phonics workshop

POLOKWANE – Five teachers from Christian Achievers Academy (CAA), Rebecca Mankanyi, Norma Grant, Kate Maleka, Amanda Williams and Dorcas Molepo took part in a phonics workshop that was held at the school earlier this year, and they recently received their certificates.

The impact of training is said to help unlock every teacher’s potential to achieve greater success in the classroom. Whether they are already using the jolly phonics, jolly grammar or jolly music programes or just want to learn more about achieving the best results, the workshop offered new ways on training teachers to teach in schools.

The Phonic Kids Teacher Training Workshop Programme is a comprehensive two-day programme that provides optimum coverage to theory and practicals of teaching phonics.

The entire course is based on jolly phonics methodology and is conducted by professional jolly trainers accredited by Jolly Learning of UK, the original developers of the jolly phonics methodology.

The workshop covered topics that were essential for every phonics teacher, including the following:

• Letter sounds.

• Identifying sounds.

• Letter formations.

• Blending of letters and words.

• The use of tricky words.

The principal, Norma Grant, said it was important to be the best and have the best to ensure the learners were taught in the best possible manner.

“They need to have the best start to make a success of the rest of their lives, and that is why this workshop was so important,” she said
