POLOKWANE – Since the establishment of private school Northern Academy in Polo-kwane in 1994, with two gr.1 classes consisting of 88 learners, the school has become one of the most predominant educational institutions in the city.

The first Northern Academy school was established in Suid Street and today caters for learners from gr. 1 to gr. 12.

By 1996, Northern Academy had already grown at a rapid rate and catered for about 900 learners from gr. 1 to gr. 6.

With the takeover of the Meridian Group, which is part of the Curro Group of Schools, a new Curro Northern Academy campus was built, and this year, 2 000 gr. 10 to gr. 12 learners flocked to the new establishment, with about 1 300 learners moving into the school’s residences.

The new Curro Northern Academy campus boasts magnificent buildings and is situated on the R81 Modjadjiskloof road.

Academic education is important at Curro Northern Academy, although the school also caters for sport such as soccer, cricket, rugby, netball and athletics.

The school has gone from strength to strength and has, over the past 10 years, been awarded as the best independent school in Limpopo several times.

The new campus has a host of technological advantages like the impressive three computer labs and an information technology workshop.

The school also utilises educational computer tablets that are used by all the learners and data projectors in the classrooms.

The Curro Northern Academy team of enthusiastic teachers are fully committed and passionate in giving the learners the best education possible.

Afternoon study classes are also offered to learners from 14:15 until 15:15 by the Curro Northern Academy’s teachers.
