Court order follows chaos

MOKOPANE – AFTER a long day of drama at the Mogalakwena municipality, the sheriff of Mokopane handed a copy of the preliminary court order to Col. Lucas Mogwaneng, station commander of Mokopane on late Tuesday afternoon.
The preliminary court order obtained in the Northern Gauteng high court named respondents as provincial commissioner of police services in Limpopo, the station commander of Mokopane, members of the executive council for the department of cooperative government, human settlements and traditional affairs (Coghsta), former mayor Tlhalefi Mashamaite and 14 former councillors and called on respondents  to show why the order should not be made final on 18 November.
The order reads as follows:
That the respondents immediate restore undisturbed occupation of the premises situated at 54 Retief Street to the applicants and all other staff members of the municipality.
That the respondents immediately return undisturbed possession of all documents and property of Mogalakwena Municipality removed on 3 and 4 November.
That the respondents as well as any officials and persons acting on their behalf be interdicted and restrained from entering the grounds unless written permission is granted by the municipal manager.
Interfering in any manner whatsoever with the council of the municipality, its municipal manager or officials’ ability or right to exercise their powers or perform their functions in terms of the constitution and other applicable legislation.
That the 15 former councillors be interdicted and restrained from acting as or assuming any function of duly elected councillors of the muni.
The cost of the application be paid by the commissioner of police services, the station commander of Mokopane and members of the executive council for Coghsta and other respondents who oppose the application.
