THE bogus nursing college owner who was arrested after being on the run for more than a year appeared briefly before the Tzaneen magistrate's court

THE bogus nursing college owner who was arrested after being on the run for more than a year appeared briefly before the Tzaneen magistrate’s court on Thursday when his formal bail application hearing was postponed to today (Wednesday).

Sungunai Kangausaru (26) alias Mike Twala, who is a Zimbabwean national, was arrested in Mpumalanga some three weeks ago by members of the Hawks in a joint operation with home affairs officials.

Provincial police spokesperson, Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi said Kangausaru was accused of running the St Ignatious FET College in Tzaneen without the proper documents. He said at the time of Kangausaru’s arrest, a substantial amount of money was allegedly found in his possession and confiscated together with his motor vehicle.

“The suspect is facing a charge of fraud involving more than R1,1 million, a charge of identity fraud since he was allegedly using a fraudulent South African ID, and he will also be charged with contravening the Immigration Act,” Mulaudzi said.

He further said the police would oppose Kaqngausaru’s bail application since he was viewed by them as a serious flight risk.

DA Limpopo member of provincial legislature and health spokesperson, Langa Bodlani welcomed the arrest, and called for a task team to be set up in order to investigate the accreditation of all private nursing colleges in the province.
