Chief encourages healthy living

A SENIOR traditional leader in the Vhembe region, chief Gole Mphaphuli, has urged other traditional leaders to take the lead in promoting good health

A SENIOR traditional leader in the Vhembe region, chief Gole Mphaphuli, has urged other traditional leaders in the region to take the lead in promoting good health by voluntarily testing for HIV/aids, cancer and related diseases.

“We are the leaders of the communities and by taking the lead in being tested, we will help encourage people to follow suit. We must also encourage older people to do some fun walks and exercises to help to stay healthy and strong,” Mphaphuli said.

Mphaphuli addressed attendees of a workshop that was held at Khoroni Hotel last Tuesday.

Attendees included various traditional leaders in the jurisdiction of Mphaphuli.

He also encouraged traditional leaders to collaborate with developers and investors so that there could be development and creation of jobs to communities.

“We urge traditional leaders to give more support to the people who need to develop their areas.

“We must make sure traditional leaders understand about the issues of land and development,” he added.

Mphaphuli further said the workshop served as an eye opener among his traditional leaders to know more about the development of land in the areas and promoting a healthy lifestyle and living by example as leaders of the people.
