POLOKWANE – Most gr. 12 learners are in the middle of their trail exams to help them prepare for the final exams looming on the horison.

Review spoke to a few learners to find out what they thought about these exams so far.

Kgothatso Monepyla.

Kgothatso Monepyla from Noorderland High School said she found the trail exams stressful, but that she tries to keep her focus on the task ahead. She said the trail exams helped her prepare for the final exams and that the marks she obtainfor these exams would be a safe prediction of the marks she would obtain at the end of the year.

She explained that she preferred to study at night when others are asleep, because it was quieter then.

“When you see good results, the hard work is worth it,” she said.

Jacqueline Bopape.

Jacqueline Bopape from Noorderland High School said the trail exams were easier than what she expected.

“I still need to write three subjects, but I feel very positive. After gr. 12, I want to study forensic anthropology at Wits,” she said.

Lebogang Mabela.

Lebogang Mabela, also from Noorderland, said he had a good experience with the trial exams.

He said learners who found the trial exams too difficult, should study harder for the final exams and avoid distractions like TV.

Braam Nel.

Braam Nel from Hoërskool Pietersburg (PHS) explained that he studied hard for the trial exams and enjoyed the experience.

“I may have to study harder for science, because that paper was a little daunting. The second English paper, poetry, was the easiest one so far.”

Cobus Mostert.

Cobus Mostert from PHS said his trial exams had gone according to plan.

“Geometry was the most challenging paper for me and I need to put in more time for that subject.

“I think the history paper was quite easy. I don’t have to study as hard for history like other subjects, because a lot of this is general knowledge for me,” he said.

Gustav Jacobs.

Gustav Jacobs, also from PHS, said the trial exams were difficult, but nothing he could not handle.

“All it takes to succeed is to work hard. I found accountancy very difficult, but I am relieved that this subject is done and dusted for now. I will give it a lot of attention before the final exams.”
