POLOKWANE – Capricorn mayor, Gilbert Kganyago, and members of the Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club and Eagles Bikers Club visited Mahlodumela Primary School in Chebeng village in celebration of Mandela Day on Friday.

Kganyago and the bikers spent their 67 minutes for Madiba by cleaning the school premises. They also painted the walls, sowed seeds in the garden, planted trees and assisted with other activities at the school.

The event was organised by the Capricorn District Municipality in partnership with Polokwane Westenburg Youth, a non-government organisation. The event was also attended by 200 residents from Chebeng village.

Mahlodumela Primary School is the same school where a learner, Michael Komape, died after falling into an open pit latrine in January, and a monument was erected in his memory as part of the celebrations on Friday. Cultural dances were also performed by learners. Kganyago said the day was an enormous success.
