ANC must apologise – Tito

Former South African Reserve Bank governor, Tito Mboweni, says the ANC-led government owes an apology to the people of South Africa for failing to deliver on promises and for putting incompetent leaders in managerial positions.

POLOKWANE – Former South African Reserve Bank governor, Tito Mboweni, says the ANC-led government owes an apology to the people of South Africa for failing to deliver on promises and for putting incompetent leaders in managerial positions.

Mboweni spoke at the Peter Mokaba memorial gala dinner and fundraising event that was held at Bolivia Lodge last Thursday evening.

He said it was a mystery to him that there were so many qualified professionals who graduated from South African universities of the highest caliber, “but we cannot fix sewage spills”.

“We have to apologise. We put incompetent people in leadership positions and we are failing our people,” he said.

Mboweni also made use of the event to canvass for the ANC. “Our people should come out from under the DA and return home where they belong. No matter how angry you are at the ANC, don’t turn your back in us, because you will miss out on history in the making.”

During the fundraising event, three portraits were sold for a whopping total of R151 000. According to event organiser, Petty Kgobe, the money will go the, yet to be established, Peter Mokaba Foundation. She said the ball was on he roll for this foundation to be established, but could not give any details yet.

Deputy minister for defense and military veterans, Thabang Makwetla, said “the Julius Malema crisis and the formation of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) caused some serious damage to the ANC”.

He blamed Malema for the damage and said the injury to the party that he caused already started when he was president of the ANCYL.
