The Easter holidays are close and many people will be observing this holiday by sharing good food, not forgetting the Easter eggs.

Review spoke to gr. R and gr. 1 learners from different schools to find out if they knew the Easter bunny, what he looked like and what they would ask him should they meet him.

Lesiba Sathekge said: “The Easter bunny is gold and pink and he comes to visit once a year. Just like Father Christmas comes at Christmas, the Easter bunny comes at Easter only.

“He brings us lots of marshmallows and chocolates and the white eggs with chocolate inside. If I meet the Easter bunny I will ask him to bring lots and lots of Easter eggs”.

According to Bontle Madiba, “the Easter bunny is black and pink, he has long ears and he stays in the garden because he puts the Easter eggs in the garden for us to find. I will ask the Easter bunny to come stay with me in my room”.

Megan Dunn said the Easter bunny was gold with black eyes and small ears. “He is made from chocolate and brings us Easter eggs at Easter time. I have never seen him before, but I know he lives in the garden.”

“When Jesus died they put him on the cross and that is why we celebrate Easter. Easter is not about the bunny and the eggs, but the bunny is brown and made from iron,” Henning Davel explained.

Imke Nel said: “The Easter bunny comes when it is his birthday, and that is Easter weekend. I have never seen him, but I know he is silver and gold and gives children chocolate.”

“The Easter bunny comes when it is Easter. I have not seen him and I do not know where he lives.

“He is gold and brings children lots of chocolates during Easter,” Anjie Kearthland said.

According to Dylan Deysel, “the Easter bunny is made from chocolate, and the chocolate is gold. That’s why he brings us Easter eggs and chocolates wrapped in gold papers”.

Theane Lewies said: “I have never seen the Easter bunny, but I would like to meet him. I would ask him to bring me lots and lots of chocolate and hide some in a box. You cannot eat the Easter bunny, you can only eat the chocolate he brings”.
