Muni experiencing phone problems

There is seemingly no end to residents' frustration regarding municipal numbers that are not working when they want to complain or make enquiries.

POLOKWANE – There is seemingly no end to residents’ frustration regarding municipal numbers that are not working when they want to complain or make enquiries.

The numbers provided on the municipal utility bills are not working, say residents who wish to stay anonymous to avoid possible victimisation.

Review investigated the matter and can confirm that the numbers are not working.

Residents also say the municipal call centre number, (015) 290 2000 is not consumer friendly. “When you call the call centre you are placed on hold for almost 30 minutes. Sometimes you are placed on hold for so long your airtime is finished by the time someone eventually answers,” one resident said.

A municipal worker, who cannot be identified as he is not allowed to communicate with the media, confirmed that the numbers provided on the utility bills were not working. He said he also tried phoning the numbers with queries on his account, but had no luck in resolving his problem.

Municipal spokesperson, Matshidiso Mothapo said residents could contact the municipality at (015) 290 2000 and their call would be routed to the correct person. “We are currently experiencing challenges with the (015) 290 2931 number meant for account enquiries.”

Billing enquiries can also be sent by e-mail to billing@polokwane.gov.za.
