Malema to know his final fate today

Economic Freedom Fighters comman-der-in-chief, Julius Malema, will know today (Thursday) whether the national prosecuting authority (NPA) will withdraw the charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering and racketeering against him when he appears before the Polokwane high court.

POLOKWANE – Economic Freedom Fighters comman-der-in-chief, Julius Malema, will know today (Thursday) whether the national prosecuting authority (NPA) will withdraw the charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering and racketeering against him when he appears before the Polokwane high court.

Malema and his business partners, Kagiso Dichabe, Lesiba Gwangwa and Makgetsi Manthata, are standing accused of misrepresenting themselves to the department of roads and transport, allegedly leading to a R52 million contract being awarded to On-Point Engineering.

Spokesperson for the Hawks, Paul Ramaloko, said their investigation proved that Malema was partnering with Gwangwa, the director of On-Point Engineering.

Malema said if the new NPA boss was not a tool of Nkandla, he would be a free man by the end of the day.

He said he was innocent and none of his family members had criminal records.

“The EFF is a government in waiting and I’m going to sit next to president Zuma after next year’s elections,” Malema said.

Due to this highly publicised court appearance, the sections of Schoeman, Landros Maré and Hans van Rensburg Streets between Thabo Mbeki and Bodenstein Streets were due to be closed for traffic since 06:00 this morning.

A disruption in traffic flow was also expected between Oost and Bodenstein Streets in the morning due to a march by Malema supporters.
