Kremetart Race has cyclist pedal power

The Jacaranda FM Kremetart Cycling Race took place on Saturday in the backdrop of the gorgeous greenery from the Soutpansberg Mountain Range in the Vhembe district.

POLOKWANE – This was the 28th Annual Kremetart Cycling Race and the race which took place over one day, consisted of four stages. The categories were Elite Men who competed in 175 km and Elite Women who competed in the 140 km. These Elites cycled nonstop from start to finish. Other categories were the Tandems with men teams, women teams as well as mixed teams. The veteran’s category accommodated those above a certain age with categories ranging from 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years and then there was the masters category that was for the age of 60 and above. Marc Pritzen and Carla Oberholzer won the overall in the respective men’s and women’s feature event at the Kremetart Cycle Race.
The day was not just about racing as there were lots of fun family activities which created a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. There was a fun 5 km family walk, KFC kiddies race that saw the little ones walk away with bicycles as prizes. Delicious food and music kept revelers entertained as the cyclist made their way through the arduous challenge. The race not only created a fun environment but it was also a great boost for local businesses. Limpopo Tourism Agency was also on board as one of the sponsors for the race.
“Truly we are very excited about the event that happened here today, the Kremetart Cycling Race because it’s one of those sporting activities that continues to grow the sport tourism profile of the province. It also assist in bringing quite a number of job opportunities for our people in the province and in the town of Louis Trichardt,” said Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations, Mike Tauatsoala.
