Lim Golf Union Toshiba Cup play-offs

LIMPOPO – THE Limpopo Golf Union has always had an Order of Merit from which the interprovincial teams are selected.

The interprovincial teams’ players are playing as follows throughout the year:

• u/23 interprovincial team;

• senior interprovincial team;

• country districts interprovincial team;

• premier interprovincial team;

• mid-amateur interprovincial team; and

• junior interprovincial team.

The Limpopo Golf Union has received an injection with incentives on the Order of Merit from Toshiba Limpopo. Toshiba’s generous sponsorship of the local Order of Merit now runs in a similar fashion as the FedEx Cup on the PGA Tour in the US on a point system. Players throughout the province have reacted very well to the new Toshiba Cup with almost 270 different players having played in an open through the year. The golf clubs also have done extremely well raising the funds and supporting the Toshiba Cup with their open events.

The Toshiba Cup in September will move into its play-off stages starting at Sesambos Golf Club in Swartwater. Because of the Toshiba Cup every open at every golf club thus far this year has been very well supported by the players with a minimum off 50 player and our biggest field thus far coming at Tzaneen of 87 players.

Upcoming tournaments:

• September 12 to 13, Sesambos Open;

• October 3 to 4, Koro Creek Bushveld Golf Estate Open;

• October 31 to November 1, Bielie van die Bosveld Thabazimbi Open; and

• November 28, Polokwane Golf Club Open and final of the Toshiba Cup.
