67 min spent for 86 smiles
TSHAMAHANSI Youth Forum jointly with Ivanplats put smiles on the little faces of 86 vulnerable children last Saturday at the Tharollo drop-in centre as part of their 67 minutes for Mandela Day.
MOKOPANE – TSHAMAHANSI Youth Forum jointly with Ivanplats put smiles on the little faces of 86 vulnerable children last Saturday at the Tharollo drop-in centre as part of their 67 minutes for Mandela Day.
The centre caters for 86 children between the ages of five and 18 in the community of Tshamahansi in Mogalakwena. Here these kids are assisted with their homework, they are taught life skills and they receive a meal before they head to their homes.
The staff of Ivanplats together with the youth of Tshamahansi showed that they are not scared of hard work and picked up spades, garden forks and rakes when they cleaned the garden at the drop-in centre.
Sports equipment was recently donated to the centre and the company and the Youth forum joined hands to make sure that the grounds were in good condition for the children to enjoy when they play soccer and netball.
Somuthwa trading, a local service provider, joined in the celebrations by not only donating their time but also donating a brand new name board to the centre.
It was a fun filled day in Tshamahansi that started off with clearing the yard and planting flowers and trees, while the kids were entertained with games.
The day ended on a high note with a delicious braai that was arranged for everybody.
The children was spoiled with beanies and lucky-packets as their gifts to take home.
