Just as strong on the pitch

"I did not want my husband's legacy to die. I fell in love with soccer after I coached the boys for a few days" Soccer coach, Moloko Mohlaka

POLOKWANE – Soccer coach, Moloko Mohlaka from Ga-Semenya in Moletjie says most male soccer coaches feel threatened whenever their teams clash.

Mohlaka inherited Tiffy All Stars FC from her late husband and coaches both the u/15 and senior teams.

“I did not want my husband’s legacy to die. I fell in love with soccer after I coached the boys for a few days. My goal is to take children off the streets and build them into future leaders,” says Mohlaka.

She says her husband’s vision was to introduce all the sporting codes in Ga-Semenya village to keep young people busy, fit and healthy.

“We wanted to introduce netball, but realised that most women in the community are not sports enthusiasts,” she says.

Mohlaka says the players respect her like they did her husband and do as she says.

“I have considered attending a coaching course to receive training as a coach and to improve my skills.”

She says she wants Tiffy All Stars to compete in the Local Football Association League to give the players exposure.

“I like a challenge and I wish women could do things themselves and not rely on someone else.

“My husband gave me the strength and knowledge to face the world with a smile,” she says.

She adds that she has been using her own money to run the team and would like to get sponsorship.

Anyone willing to assist Tiffy All Stars FC can contact Mohlaka at 081 411 8808 or 083 486 0406.
