Makotse Women’s Club

Poverty, unemployment and inequity are the biggest challenges facing our country. Social development on the national and provincial level have appointed Makotse Women's Club to work on a solution to those challenges in the province.

POLOKWANE – Poverty, unemployment and inequity are the biggest challenges facing our country. Social development on the national and provincial level have appointed Makotse Women’s Club to work on a solution to those challenges in the province. The club expands operations to distribute food to communities throughout the province. They decided to partner with the department of social development to establish and manage the Limpopo Provincial Food Distribution Centre (PFDC) with the aim of distributing procured and donated food to community nutrition and development centres across the province. The National Policy on food and nutrition security and household food and nutrition security strategy were approved by the cabinet in 2013. Mmanana Matlala, project manager for the club, said that the club has been empowering vulnerable communities since 1995, it’s a non-profit organisation working to ensure promotion, job creation and community development in Makotse village and across the province.
