POLOKWANE – Noah Mamabolo, a ward 20 committee member at the Polokwane Municipality is a regular blood donor at the South Africa Blood Service (SANBS).

He said he donated blood regularly and willingly to save the lives of those in need.

He says he started donating blood in 1998 and has donated up to 28 units.

“I am committed to saving lives and it brings me joy to know I have made a difference in someone’s life by donating blood,” said Mamabolo.

The month of June is Blood Donor Month and is dedicated to blood donors such as Mamabolo, who save lives. This year, blood donors will be celebrated under the theme: thank you for saving my life.

The month focuses on thanking blood donors who save lives every day through their blood donations and strongly encourages more people all over the world to donate blood voluntarily and regularly with the slogan: give freely, give often. Blood donation matters.

Mamabolo explained that donating a unit of blood could save up to three patients’ lives who were in need of blood.

“I became a regular donor and that ensures the safety of blood is maintained and makes it possible for SANBS to collect sufficient blood to meet the demand,” he said.
