MOKOPANE – THE Mokopane Hospital supported Cell C’s Take a Girl Child to Work Day last Friday and hosted learners from E.D.L Rampola Secondary School in Mahwelereng.

The Cell C’s Take a Girl Child to Work Day was first introduced to the South African business community on May 8, 2003. Now in its 13th year, the initiative has enjoyed unrivaled success as a platform to address the needs and aspirations of girls in high school.

The day, spent in the working world shadowing top executives, will open up a choice of career opportunities, inspiring them to reach great heights of success that they never would have dreamed possible.

The day started with a powerful message from Tsibolane Mbuyiselo, the CEO of Mokopane Hospital. “We are very happy and excited that the private sector came on board with this great campaign. I hope that at the end of this day, after meeting different staff members, shadowing a few doctors and experiencing the industry you will be motivated to achieve greatness. Your journey starts in gr. 12 and it is of utmost importance to achieve your matric certificate and from there empower yourself in the industry that interests you.”

Mbuyiselo made a lasting impression on all the learners as he described his journey of how he started with a course in nursing and continued to get educated to where he is today.

He made it clear that you had to start at the bottom and work yourself to the top to truly understand and respect every sector of business.

“You can have a medical degree, but if you do not treat all people with respect, you have learned nothing, always remember who you are and where you came from,” said Mbuyiselo.

Dimaketse Motlohoneng, senior training officer at Mokopane Hospital, said: “grab every opportunity in life with both hands and the correct way to start your journey is with gr. 12”.

The learners introduced themselves and talked about their career interests after which they were introduced to Malose Seko, deputy manager communications, Mbuyiselo, Kgakishi Moraba, acting deputy nursing manager, Motlohoneng and Mocheku Maphuti, experiential learner HRD.

They took the learners on a tour of the hospital, where they explained everything to them and answered all their questions.

“I believe the day was a great success and that the learners went home feeling motivated,”said Seko.
