Suspect identified in Oosthuizen murder

"Chauke is deemed dangerous and the public should not attempt to confront him but rather call the nearest police station and contact the CPF nearest to them." Phala said.

POLOKWANE – The investigation into the house robbery and murder of Ignat Oosthuizen in the early morning hours of May 5 has resulted in the identification of the suspected robber.

Police found the fingerprints of 24-year old Alex Simon Chauke when investigating the murder of Oosthuizen.

Polokwane police spokes-person capt. Ntobeng Phala said that the police can positively say that they are looking for Chauke in connection with at least one other armed robbery.

“He failed to appear in court for the previous robbery and police have been looking for him since then.

He can now be linked via his fingerprints to the Oosthuizen murder and another house robbery in Flora Park on Wednesday May, 27,” Phala said.

He urged residents to contact the nearest police station with information on the whereabouts of Chauke. “Chauke is deemed dangerous and the public should not attempt to confront him but rather call the nearest police station and contact the CPF nearest to them,” Phala said.
