Northern Muslim School’s master chefs in action

Northern Muslim School learners had the chance to demonstrate their cooking skills when their master chef competition was held on Saturday, May 9.

POLOKWANE – Northern Muslim School learners had the chance to demonstrate their cooking skills when their master chef competition was held on Saturday, May 9.

Master chef is an extra-curricular activity aimed at identifying cooking talent at a young age. It is a fun-filled event that takes place in three phases, and learners from gr. 4 to gr. 12 participated.

Organiser, Unah Mabesere, said the day was a great success and both the parents, judges and participants enjoyed it. She said the school would like to make special mention of the following people for making the day possible: Far Frozen Foods, Nirvana Supermarket, Prime Cuts, Best Bake, Limpopo Cash & Carry and Spar (Thabo Mbeki Street) for the food parcel donations. Thanks also went to the judges, school management, personnel and the board, as well as Zaheera Khan.

The results were as follows:

• Phase 1 (gr. 4-6) first place Asma Khan and Ammarah Pocha, second place Umar Hurzuk and Mohammed Irshad;

• Phase 2 (gr. 7-9) first place Aqueel Hassim and Zaeem Bham, second place Shakeel Ismail and Salman Shaik; and

• Phase 3 (gr. 10-12) first place Shazeem Ally and Mustafa Carrim, second place Ayesha Moosa and Naeema Aziz.
