POLOKWANE – Mother’s Day was celebrated on Sunday and to show mothers that they care, Mitchell House hosted a breakfast at Mike’s Kitchen especially for them, on Saturday.

“We wanted to spoil the mothers and give them some free time,” Safya Sampra, chairperson of the Parents’ Association, which organised the event, said.

Three speakers, Maylene Broderick (chairperson of the board), Dr Soomaiya Gani (medical practitioner and consultant HIV specialist) and Anke van Waveren (dietitian) took turns to speak at the breakfast.

Broderick shared some information about the board. Gani told the women about different cancers women could get and how to make sure they were not at risk, while Van Waveren spoke about different diets. Dr Selaelo Ramahlodi won a coffee machine and Fatima Ismail a surprise gift, each in a lucky draw.

After the speeches the women enjoyed a buffet breakfast. Mitchell House and the Parents Association thanked the sponsors namely Sompra Brothers, Mike’s Kitchen, Skin Deep and The Star.
