Chabane: case of social media accused withdrawn by court

Thembani Maswanganyi, also known as Thembani Chabane, who claimed on social media that the late minister Collins Chabane was assasinated, heard last Thursday that the case against him was provisionally withdrawn.

POLOKWANE – Thembani Maswanganyi, also known as Thembani Chabane, who claimed on social media that the late minister Collins Chabane was assasinated, heard last Thursday that the case against him was provisionally withdrawn.

He was arrested after Chabane and his two bodyguards were killed in a collision on the N1 south of Polokwane in March.

Maswanganyi claimed on social media that an ANC provincial executive committee member hired assassins to kill the minister, but failed to produce evidence. He was then arrested and charged.

Magistrate Mohamed Shaik said in the Polokwane magistrate’s court last Thursday that the case was provisionally withdrawn to give the state a chance to get their house in order and determine a court date.
