A 30-year-old man was allegedly stabbed during a break-in in his home at Serala View Security Complex early Tuesday morning.

According to Capt. Ntobeng Phala, police spokesperson,  Ignat Oosthuizen was stabbed in his neck and died on the scene.

Oosthuizen’s wife, Simoné (25),  sustained a stab wound to her right arm.

Phala says the couple were woken by a noise in the house at about 03:00.  They woke up to find the robber standing next their bed.

Oosthuizen asked the robber what he wanted and a fight broke out.

Phala said there was a struggle and the robber ran away. Oosthuizen apparently ran after him and in the process was stabbed in the neck.

Simoné was heard screaming by a neighbours who came to assist.  No one has been arrested.
