Round Table celebrates Earth Hour

Round Table Zoutpansberg 66 and the Soutpansberg Astronomy Club celebrated Earth Hour at the Rondebosch Riding School Clubhouse on Saturday.

LOUIS TRICHARDT – Round Table Zoutpansberg 66 and the Soutpansberg Astronomy Club celebrated Earth Hour at the Rondebosch Riding School Clubhouse on Saturday.

Earth Hour started off in 2007 and is an annual lights-off event to raise awareness about climate change. It has grown to engage more than 162 countries world wide, and residents of Louis Trichardt have been involved in with this initiative since its inception.

Prior to Earth Hour which ran from 20:30 to 21:30 on Saturday, Kos Coronaios from the Astronomy Club planned a short presentation on Earth’s closest neighbour, the Moon, with views from a telescope projected on a big screen.

“Unfortunately due to the weather I was not able to take out the telescope. We did, however, have a very stunning Earth Hour where we sat and talked and had a nice braai,” said Kos.
