Edwel prevents burglary

Patrol members of the Edwel community policing forum (CPF) again managed to foil the plans of burglars in Logan Street, Eduan Park, on Monday.

POLOKWANE – Patrol members of the Edwel community policing forum (CPF) again managed to foil the plans of burglars in Logan Street, Eduan Park, on Monday.

During the evening, a resident of Logan Street, who is a member of Edwel, heard noises at his door and realised there were some people trying to break into his house.

He called for help on his two-way radio that is linked to Edwel and patrolling members came to his aid.

Two patrol vehicles arrived on the scene just in time to see one of the would-be robbers run into an open field and the Edwel patrolling members gave chase.

After searching for over an hour, the suspects could not be apprehended but the robbery was successfully foiled.

“Members do not have to search for numbers to dial; help is just the push of a button away.”

The management of Edwel again emphasised the importance of being a member of the Edwel CPF and having a two-way radio handy in emergencies.

“Members do not have to search for numbers to dial; help is just the push of a button away.”

Police urged all residents of the city to report any suspicious people or behaviour to their nearest police stations.

Residents living in the area covered by Edwel, Eduan Park and Welgelegen, can also report to one of Edwel’s members.

People interested in joining Edwel can send an e-mail to itstopshere.edwel@gmail.com
