POLOKWANE – Water supply remains under strain due to load shedding affecting OLIFANTSPOORT PLANT. Therefore the possibility of water shortages can be expected in the affected areas.

Water supply in Polokwane remains under strain and Lepelle Northern Water has informed us that the Olifantspoort plant and the pumps are out of operation due to load shedding currently being implemented. As such no water is received from this plant since 11h00 this morning.

Reservoir levels this afternoon are reading as follows;

  • Krugersburg 50ML=00%
  • Krugersburg 30ML=00%
  • Potgieter=00%
  • Extension 34=00%
  • Seshego=00%

The Ebenezer plant is delivering 197 litres per second to Polokwane whilst Olifantspoort is delivering 0 litres per second. Most areas should however be having water except high lying areas of Serala View, Ster Park, Flora Park, Extension 71, 73, 75 and 76 and other areas in Seshego.

The municipality will however continue providing relief through water tankers to areas that are affected until supply is fully restored. The tankers will make rounds in the morning and evening.

To report any water shortage, please contact the municipality’s Water and Sanitation Unit on 015 290 2375, 290 2376; 290 2377; 290 2458 or 290 2000.
