Westenburg and Nirvana electricity affected by cable theft

Power restored in Westenburg and Nirvana after an interruption in power supply due to cable theft.

POLOKWANE – Power has been restored in Westenburg and Nirvana after cable theft on the corner of Nelson Mandela Drive and Devenish Street.

Municipality spokesperson Thipa Selala says that technicians are currently on-site, working to isolate the affected line.

This is to ensure that while the cable is being replaced, power supply is maintained where possible, but the isolation may cause an overload on the line.

“To manage this, the municipality will alternate power supply between the industrial area and residential areas until full restoration is achieved,” says Selala.

The municipality urges the community to assist in safeguarding infrastructure and to report any suspicious activity to the police on 08600 10111 or the Municipal By-Law Enforcement Office on 015 290 2458.
