Polokwane’s water woes to continue with more disruptions

As residents grapple with low water supply, the Polokwane Municipality warns of further interruptions as Eskom carries out maintenance at the Olifantspoort Plant.

POLOKWANE – More water disruptions are on the cards for Polokwane despite many suburbs battling with little to no water supply.

The Polokwane Municipality says several reservoirs are operating at reduced levels due to recurring power dips along the Ebenezer waterline.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says the situation is being closely monitored and the municipality is taking measures to provide assistance to areas impacted by shortages.

In addition, Eskom will conduct scheduled maintenance at the Olifantspoort Plant today that will necessitate power supply disruptions.

Selala said the anticipated power outages will occur from 08:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 19:00.

“It should also be noted that between 10:00 and 19:00, the water treatment plant will not be operating at full capacity, as Eskom’s power supply will be reduced during their maintenance period. Residents are kindly urged to exercise prudence in their water usage during this time,” Selala said.
