POLOKWANE – The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe says the arrest of five notorious suspects on Thursday and Friday will greatly bring relief to the Polokwane business community and community at large.

The five suspects are linked to a series of business robberies in Polokwane and are believed to be a gang of dangerous criminals that have tormented the city and surrounding areas since September.

“The suspects, aged between 22 and 42, targeted restaurants, pharmaceutical companies, filling stations, and liquor outlets, armed with firearms. They were linked to over six cases,” said police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

The men were arrested in separate locations in Westenburg and Seshego following an intelligence-driven operation conducted from Thursday (September 19), into the early hours on Friday morning.

“Three pellet firearms, knives, cigarettes, various types of liquor, a substantial amount of cash, and a pair of cloned registration plates were confiscated during the arrest,” Ledwaba said.
