Leopards coach aims for promotion

Maxwell Konadu, Black Leopards' new coach, seeks wins and Premiership promotion, praising his team's young talent.

LIMPOPO – The new head coach of Black Leopards, Maxwell Konadu, has quickly made his mark since his appointment before the start of the Motsepe Foundation Championship two months ago.

The Ghanaian national has led the team through a mixed bag of results, with a win and a draw in their home games.

In an interview prior to their upcoming match against league leaders Casric Stars, Konadu expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly praising the young talent within the Leopards’ camp.

He stressed the importance of securing positive results: “Displaying entertaining football without results is good for the eyes but not for the fans. Supporters want wins, and everything else is a bonus”.

Konadu, who has a rich soccer background including stints with Asante Kotoko and CS Sfaxien, was clear about his goals for the season.

He stated his mandate is to promote Black Leopards to the Premiership division by the end of the season, rather than just saving the team from relegation.

“Speculation about promotions or relegations is premature with only six matches played so far,” he noted.

Despite a period of absence from football, Konadu resurfaced in 2010 as the head coach of Wa All Stars FC.

His extensive coaching experience includes roles with the Ghanaian national team and u/20 and u/23 teams.

Black Leopards are currently in third position with four points, while their Vhembe counterparts, Venda Football Club, face a challenging game against Durban City FC on Sunday.
