Thohoyandou Dr pens book on anger management

With over 30 years experience as a general medical practitioner, Dr Muremela shares insights and practical techniques to manage anger.

LIMPOPO – If you struggle to control your anger, Dr Lutendo Samson Muremela, a well-known general medical practitioner from Thohoyandou, provides valuable guidance in his newly published book, ‘Words of Wisdom on Anger’.

Muremela considers the book one of his most valuable contributions and hopes it reaches a wide audience, as it is packed with insights designed to promote awareness about managing anger.

He explains that anger is a normal human emotion that can be controlled. The real issue arises when it spirals out of control and becomes destructive, affecting relationships, work, and the overall quality of life.

“Anger can make you feel like you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion,” he explains. “This book will teach you how to control it. Many people have destroyed their relationships, careers, and even harmed their loved ones due to uncontrolled anger.”

Muremela stressed that anger is an emotion experienced by everyone – the difference lies in how individuals respond when it arises.

“People rarely talk about managing and taking control of emotions, even though anger remains a force many struggle to contain,” he says.

He believes that if everyone could learn to control their anger, the world would be a better place.

In ‘Words of Wisdom on Anger’, readers will find techniques to help manage this powerful emotion.

“Controlling your anger is a learned behaviour, just like learning to cook or drive. It’s crucial to learn and practice these remedies to improve relationships, health, work environments, and overall life,” he said.

The book consists of seven chapters, covering topics such as understanding anger, rage attacks, personality types and disorders, gender-based violence, and solutions for preventing such violence.

With over 30 years of experience as a general medical practitioner, Muremela acknowledges that he doesn’t have all-encompassing knowledge but seeks to share his experiences and insights.

His previous works include ‘Living a Healthy Life’ (2019), ‘Why Men Die Younger’ (2020), ‘Women’s Health’ (2021), ‘Fundamental Truth of Success in Life’ (2023), and ‘Common Questions Young People Ask’ (2024).

His latest book was published this month and was edited by Dr Israel Mulaudzi.

Born and raised in the rural village of Matsika in Malavuwe, just outside Thohoyandou, Dr Muremela pursued his studies at the University of Limpopo and Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University.

His latest book aims to help readers control their anger before it controls them.
