Call for schools to join the Generosity Challenge

The challenge, open to all schools across the nation, aims to inspire generosity among the youth and create an impact through small acts of kindness.

POLOKWANE – Mahlatse Mafolo (36) is rallying schools across the country to participate in the Schools Generosity Challenge 2025 through his charity organisation, The Heroez.

Founded with the vision of creating a lasting impact through small acts of kindness, Mafolo is determined to inspire a wave of generosity among the youth.

Mafolo told Review that the challenge is open to all schools – primary and high, private and public, urban and suburban – across the nation.

“The challenge will run throughout the year, with each quarter featuring a different goodwill challenge for schools to engage in. All the challenges are designed to be easy and fun, and we’re calling on schools to join this initiative that will create a massive collective impact across the country,” he said.

The challenge offers schools a unique opportunity to come together in a spirit of camaraderie, collectively addressing social issues affecting rural communities.

Mafolo hopes the initiative will spark a radical wave of generosity, driven by young people united by a mission larger than themselves.

Schools will be invited to sign up throughout the year, with participating schools receiving a trophy at the end of the school year in recognition of their generosity.

Additionally, more exciting challenges will be introduced during 2025 to ensure a broad collective impact.

The challenge will include:
Term 1: Each learner donates a book by the end of the term, with the books being distributed to rural libraries and schools.
Term 2: Each learner donates a new or preloved warm winter item, which will be collected and donated to rural schools or communities during winter.
Term 3: Each learner donates a non-perishable food item, which will be distributed to underprivileged families.
Term 4: Each learner donates a new or preloved toy, which will be wrapped and given as Christmas gifts to children in rural schools.

Mafolo is actively seeking sponsorship from interested companies and corporate partners and is open to collaborating with different stakeholders to spread the spirit of goodwill far and wide.
