Three Vhembe learners rewarded for performance
The Opal Students Foundation rewards top learners and donates to Makhuvha Drop-in Centre, uplifting the community through education and support.
LIMPOPO – In a heartwarming gesture of recognition and support, the Opal Students Foundation recently rewarded top-performing learners from three local schools in Vhembe and extended a helping hand to the less privileged at the Makhuvha Drop-in Centre.
The centre received groceries and essential items, bringing much-needed relief to the community.
An awards ceremony, held at Tshivhase Secondary School in Vhufuli village outside Thohoyandou, celebrated both academic excellence and community support.
Outstanding learners from Makhuvha Primary School, Muhuyuwathomba Secondary School, and Tshivhase Secondary School were acknowledged for their achievements.
Maranzhe Ankonisaho, a current learner at Tshivhase Secondary School and top performer at Makhuvha Primary School in 2023, received a full school uniform and a new laptop.
Oswika Munakisi Mukoma, now studying at the University of Cape Town, was awarded a new laptop for her exceptional performance at Tshivhase Secondary in 2023.
Sikhala Rofhulufhela, currently at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, also received a new laptop as the top student at Muhuyuwathomba Secondary School in 2023.
Patricia Tshitema, the founder of the Opal Students Foundation and Mrs Universe Africa Public Choice, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to fostering education and supporting the youth.
She expressed her gratitude and pride in the students’ achievements, reaffirming the foundation’s mission: “Our goal is to uplift and empower the youth through education and community support. Today’s event is a testament to the incredible potential within our community. The success of the event marks another milestone for the Opal Students Foundation, showcasing their dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of young scholars and their communities.”
