POLOKWANE – Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kgaugelo Mapemba Sekgota has signed with the new Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Magesi FC.

The 27-year-old, who hails from Seshego, is eager to improve his football skills in his hometown and turn over a new leaf in his career.

Sekgota, a talented footballer known for his command on the field, has had his share of off-field issues. Nevertheless, his profile caught the attention of Magesi FC.

Thrilled to join a Limpopo premier league club, Sekgota expressed his excitement, stating, “It is like coming back home after life’s trials and tribulations.”

Reflecting on his journey as a professional footballer, Sekgota shared the personal challenges he has faced.

“I am back home after playing in Europe and several PSL clubs in South Africa. I am learning how to conduct myself according to professional football standards. Despite some mishaps, I now have a chance to redeem myself at a club that has welcomed and embraced me.”

Football is Sekgota’s passion. “Football is my life, and I don’t know anything else. I have no choice but to try and do my best, which is not difficult as it is what I love the most,” he said.

Magesi FC had been seeking a player of Sekgota’s calibre to reinforce their midfield.

By enlisting his talent, the club aims to strengthen their squad. Sekgota is determined to impress and hopes to earn another call-up to the national team, where he aims to make a significant impact for the country.

Sekgota’s business manager, Bally Smart, confirmed that the move to Magezi resulted in a one-year contract.

“Sekgota recently arrived at his new team after agreeing to a year-long contract. The club is happy to sign a local lad and applauded the incorporation of the midfielder. Sekgota will now have to demonstrate his talent to prove that the club made the right decision in signing him.”
