Ivypark’s 40 000 litre water tank solution

Ivypark installs water tank to address the school's water challenges and creates waterless garden to conserve resources.

POLOKWANE – Laerskool Ivypark has taken a significant step to address its water challenges by securing a 40 000-litre elevated water tank.

The new addition is set to alleviate ongoing water issues faced by the school and ensure a steady supply for essential needs.

Principal Willem Opperman expressed relief and optimism about the water tank. “We had tanks before, but they couldn’t store enough water. This new tank, with a capacity of 40 kilolitres, will provide ample water for the school’s ablution facilities and kitchen. The water will be distributed to the school accordingly.”

In response to the water crisis, the school has also made changes to its landscape.

“The water challenges have forced us to erect a waterless garden. We removed some plants and flowers that required regular watering and replaced them with aesthetic grass and pebble rocks. Despite the water challenges, we want our school to look pleasing to the eyes of parents, stakeholders, and learners,” added Opperman.
