A group behind attacks on Xbox, PlayStation and Malaysia Airlines is claiming responsibility for shutting down Facebook.
Hacking group Lizard Squad – which recently claimed responsibility for a Christmas Day attack on PlayStation and Xbox Live services – said on Twitter that it was responsible for the problems.
Facebook ha been down since 8:27 AM this morning. Problem is international.
Users worldwide are experiencing issues connecting to Facebook and Instagram, both on the Web and via mobile apps.
It’s not clear what’s causing the outage. However, Facebook-owned mobile messaging service WhatsApp is running as usual.
The last instance of Facebook going down was back in September, when the social network went down twice that month. The most recent outage lasted about 15 minutes.
