Limpopo’s finest shine at netball championships

Limpopo Netball Championships held at Hoërskool Pietersburg saw intense competition, with bronze medals awarded to top teams.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Netball Championships took place at Hoërskool Pietersburg on June 7 and 8. Teams participating were the u/14s, u/16s and u/17s.

The Tommies experienced an exceptional season as the u/14, u/16 and first team won bronze medals during the Limpopo Netball Championships.

U/14:
Pool matches:
• Hoërskool Nylstroom beat Tom Naudé 7-6.
• Tom Naudé beat Stanford Lake College 15-1.
• Tom Naudé beat Makgofe High School 16-3.
• Tom Naudé beat Moroathebe Combined School 14-4.
• Tom Naudé beat D.Z.J. Mtebule Junior Secondary School 17-3.
Quarter-finals:
• Tom Naudé beat Merensky High School 10-7.
Semi-finals
• Ben Vorster High School beat Tom Naudé 17-4.
Third and fourth place playoffs:
• Tom Naudé beat Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer 13-10.

U/16:
Pool matches:
• Tom Naudé beat Hoërskool Ben Viljoen 17-3.
• Tom Naudé beat Stanford Lake College 19-6.
• Tom Naudé beat Patrick Ramaano Secondary School 23-2.
• Tom Naudé beat D.Z.J. Mtebule Junior Secondary School 23-3.
• Tom Naudé beat Hlabi Secondary School 18-7.
Quarter-finals
• Tom Naudé beat Capricorn High School 12-10.
Semi-finals
• Hoërskool Pietersburg beat Tom Naudé 17-12.
Third and fourth place playoffs:
• Tom Naudé beat Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer 21-14.

Other netball news:
• Olubanzi Mlangeni was selected as one of the top 35 u/16 players in the country to play trials for the South African team.
• Tommies representing Limpopo at the South African Schools Netball All Ages Tournament include Maite Manyashi (u/15), Tebogo Manamela (u/15), Orefile Magoro (u/15), Olubanzi Mlangeni (u16), Grace Mamabolo (u/16) and Tsakani Malungane (u/14).
• Pretty Manamela obtained her SASN C+ umpires grading at the SA Schools Netball All Ages Tournament.
