Teachers face off in friendly volleyball match
Eagle's Nest Christian School and MEPS staff played a friendly volleyball match, relieving exam stress and building relationships.
POLOKWANE – Eagle’s Nest Christian School hosted MEPS on their courts as they competed in a staff volleyball match on Thursday.
MEPS principal Pitsi Sandy told Review the game was organised between the two schools to provide a space for teachers to release some tension, especially during times like exams when learners are writing, which he described as a high stress environment.
“Games like these are stress relievers. It was all about having fun and also to build inter-school relationships amongst staff and teachers.”
MEPS volleyball coach Charles Chikunguru said it was a good experience where they shared a lot of laughter and conversations.
“The rivalry between the two schools is not only among learners but also among teachers, all in good spirit. The home team managed to come out victorious, however, we also challenge the host to the next match that will be hosted at MEPS which we call ‘the slaughter house’ where no one will come out victorious but us,” Chikunguru said confidently.
Eagle’s Nest High School principal Isaac Manamike said it was a good exercise for relieving stress, and for teachers and staff to reflect and refresh.
“We also had fellowship on the courts. It was a tight match, but as the Eagles, we flew our flag higher and right to the front. These type of competitions are good for schools to take hands and go forward. It was a pleasure taking part,” concluded Eagle’s Nest executive head, Mac van den Berg.
Eagles Nest won the game with a score of 4-2.
