Polokwane Netball League grows in leaps and bounds

Deputy chair of the Polokwane Netball League Rose Malotane Mamabolo says they are impressed and encouraged by the players and their leaders.

POLOKWANE – The deputy chairperson of the Polokwane Netball League, Rose Malotane Mamabolo said they are happy with the growth of the league and the standard of netball displayed by the affiliated teams.

Their teams cater for players of all ages in the city and surrounds and the league hosted matches at the Polokwane Netball Courts on April 20.

This tournament was won by Young Fighters netball club, who beat Leaokama United, Mohlonong, Bluebirds, Hungry Lions and Dominion to take top honours.

“The league was established months ago and has grown tremendously. We are impressed by the numbers of talented netball players in the city and surrounds. We are encouraged by the commitment from the players and as their leaders, we will ensure that we nurture their talent. Our wish is to see players from the league representing the country in major international competitions such as the Olympics and Commonwealth Games in the near future.”

She said they are happy to have had representation at the Limpopo Baobabs team that competed at the 2024 Telkom Netball League from April 26 to May 5.

The league was represented by Julia Sekwakwa and Tshwarelo Letsoalo, who were selected during the local Limpopo Baobabs trials held across the province.

“They have been doing well in the league and have helped their team win key matches.”
