Vhembe Fitness Centre makes room for unemployed

Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli, who officially opened the centre congratulated Mphephu for his efforts in creating jobs and making sure people start exercising again.

LIMPOPO – The re-opening of the Robert Mphephu Fitness Centre in Thohoyandou near the Thulamela Municipal offices not only provides an opportunity for a healthy lifestyle, but has also created jobs for previously unemployed people around Vhembe.

The centre, which first opened in 2007, has been revived and was officially re-opened last Saturday thanks to the owner of the building, Robert Mphephu.

Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli, who officially opened the centre congratulated Mphephu, a well-known businessman in Thohoyandou, for his efforts in creating jobs and making sure people start exercising again.

Thulamela Mayor Athingozwidivha Sarah Rambuda welcomed the opening, saying government alone cannot create jobs for the communities. She thanked Mphephu for re-opening the centre and creating 18 new jobs.

“We want our communities to come to the centre and excercise.

“By 2030, I would like Thulamela to be a city of people with healthy bodies,” said Rambuda.

Mphephu said it was time that the health and well-being of people are taken seriously, as many diseases are caused by a lack of proper training and exercise.

Phelma Klokow, who is part of the management team of the centre, has over 20 years’ experience in gymnasium and training and welcomed all who want to come and exercise. Sales and marketing manager Mukovhe Mowali remarked that exercise improves learning abilities, builds self-esteem, keeps the brain fit, reduces stress and high blood pressure and boosts the immune system.
