Accolades for Ivypark learners

Willem Opperman, the principal of the school says their participation in such competitions will improve their reading and creative abilities.

POLOKWANE – Foundation phase learners of Laerskool Ivypark were the big winners of the Pietersburg Circuit’s Curriculum Enrichment Competition held in Polokwane on August 23.

Yusuf Ismail, Maja Dihlomosiso, Kgaugelo Matlakala, Mmatshepo Sekele, Lesedi Khuto and Nthathi Mothemane won various accolades in reading, mathematics and creative writing.

They faced stiff competition from participants of Pietersburg English Medium School and Pietersburg Comprehensive School.

Willem Opperman, the principal of the school says their participation in such competitions will improve their reading and creative abilities.

“They were given problems to solve in mathematics, read some books and also had to exercise creative writing. We are proud of them as a school and would like to see more learners from the school excelling in such competitions.”

Sune Swart, the head of the foundation phase, said such competition helps learners with their school work.

“The learners excel in their school work and we want to continue with the good work.”
