UPDATE: Polokwane’s water supply restored after Specon pipe leak

The Polokwane Municipality has urged residents to be patient as supply returns due to the Olifantspoort line having been empty since Tuesday.

POLOKWANE – Water supply to all areas within the Polokwane Municipality has been restored after yet another pipe leak on the Specon pipeline on Tuesday.

Lepelle Northern Water attended to the leak that resulted in a stoppage at the Olifantspoort Plant.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala confirmed that repairs have been completed and urged residents to be patient as supply returns.

“It may take some time before all affected areas receive flow as the pipeline has been empty since Tuesday,” his statement read.

Affected areas include Ivydale, Nirvana, Flora Park, Sterpark, Bendor, the CBD from Compensate to Natorp Street, Extensions 71, 75 and 76, Legae laBatho as well as the upper parts of Seshego Zones 2, 3, 7 and 8, while Extension 73 is experiencing low pressure of supply.

“The municipality will continue to monitor affected areas and assist with water tankers as a form of temporary relief to all areas that are experiencing challenges” his statement read.
