Revered transport owner dies following short illness

Dolight Transport's Reckson Mukwevho was described as a people's person, a visionary and a strategic thinker that brought change to his community.

LIMPOPO – Reckson Mukwevho, the owner of Dolight Transport, died in a private hospital in Polokwane on Saturday following a short illness.

His son, Kakgiso Mukwevho said they are still trying to come to terms with his father’s death.

“We know that God did His will for a reason. Our hearts are bleeding as we lost a pillar in our community and a hard-working person. We depended on him for advice and we learned much from him in his lifetime. Our father was a loving person who took care of all of us. We have lost a good teacher who always came up with solutions when we had problems.”

Messages of condolences locally and from abroad continue to pour in, and according to the family spokesperson, it shows that Mukwevho was a people’s person, irrespective of colour, race and religion, “he was a visionary and a strategic thinker”.

The secretary of the Vhembe Bus Association, Patrick Mapengo, conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and indicated that the association would sorely miss the good working relationship and support they received from the Mukwevho family.

“The role he played in fostering unity, and the discipline, hard work and dedication within the family and community shall always be cherished,” Mapengo said.

He added that the association was saddened by the death of one of their own.

“The grief that the family is experiencing also touches us and we will always remember him, because he had done so many good things for this industry and community”.

A memorial service will be held at the Louis Trichardt Industrial Bus Depot on Friday at 11:00, followed by another service on Saturday. The funeral will follow at Ha-Mapila.
