POLOKWANE – An electrical box in Nirvana exploded last Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, a mother as well as her three children, had reportedly been pulled out of the burning vehicle by a local secondary school learner, according to onlookers on Orient Drive, after she lost control of the vehicle and drove into the box.

Police investigations are still underway as to whether the explosion was caused by the impact or a fuel leak.

The driver and passengers were treated for shock by emergency medical personnel, although the vehicle is burned beyond repair, according to the Westenburg police.

The car was towed away by an insurance company and an accident report is available, Polokwane Observer has learnt.

Transport spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene encourages drivers to be patient at all times. “Lives should take priority over anything else, despite how much of a hurry a person is in. We encourage all drivers to exercise patience for the safety of all road users.”
